How to help to keep bus travel safe

Your bus operators are asking you to try to do the following to keep bus travel safe

Take a window seat ( First bus & Faresaver buses)
Avoid standing and leave a space in front and behind you  ( Faresaver buses)
Wait for passengers to get off before you board ( First bus & Faresaver buses)
Do not stand or queue in the aisle next to the bus driver ( Faresaver buses)
Wear a face covering unless exempt due to health reasons or a child ( mandatory on all buses after 15th June )
Try to travel during off peak hours to avoid busy hours ( First bus)
Keep Windows open to help with ventilation( First bus)
Be prepared to wait if your bus is showing full even if it appears to have space ( First bus)
Use contactless payment where possible. If you need to use cash pay with exact change ( First bus & Faresaver buses)
Maintain a distance of 2 metres whilst waiting at bus stops( First bus )

ALL operators will have LESS CAPACITY due to new social DISTANCING rules

West of England zone fares and tickets from 21st July 2019

The West of England zone allows travel on all First West of England bus services, which includes travel to Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and the Mendips, all on one ticket.


Single tickets
The cost of a single tickets when boarding within the West of England zone is based on the route distance you travel:

Up three miles
Adult                          from £2.50 ( Frome price £1.50)
16-21 year old / student     from £1.80 ( Frome price £1.10)
Child aged 5-15        from £1.30 (Frome price 80p)
(Frome fare is available anywhere between Sainsbury's Frome and Oldford)

Going to Frome Independent Market Today? Have any of you been to Frome Independent Market? It's the biggest market in the area and possibly even in Somerset.It's so much more than a market! Got a large antiques section, food, drink, music and much more. It's Frome at it's best. It's on the first Sunday of every month takes place between March and December. If you are visiting the Frome Independent Market today why not go via the First Bus D2 bus (Frome's only Sunday bus service). The route is slightly amended and drops you off and picks you up in central Frome at Cork Street car park.
The times of the bus may be slightly later than per the Sunday timetable but would advise you still be at the bus stop at the usual Sunday times to be on the safe side. First Bus D2 new timetable and route change through Frome

Please note the route in Frome is changing. There will be no more D2A and some of the times are changing too...
Please note the following about the new D2 timetable from First Bus.
Buses will operate every 30 minutes in peak and every hour off peak Monday to Friday. There are alterations to the departure and running times of all journeys so please check the timetable (here). On Saturdays buses will operate every 30 minutes in peak, which is extended on a Saturday to reflect customer travel patterns, and hourly off peak. Sunday buses operate every two hours as currently with slightly revised running times.
All service D2 will operate the same route in Frome. Buses will travel via Brunel Way (The Clink) in both directions; from Frome Marketplace buses will operate via Critchill to Sainsbury’s and return via The Butts. The Sunday service will continue to operate every two hours as currently with slightly revised running times, so again customers are advised to check the timetable before setting off on their journey.

The route is slightly amended and drops you off and picks you up in central Frome at Cork Street car park.You can travel anywhere in Frome to Cork Street for £1.50 (single) There are discounted fares for students and for 16-21 year olds paying only £1.10 and under 16's will have to pay only 80p.

First Bus launch new Frome town fare

From the 29th September, the First Bus's D2/D2a (who run the Bath to Frome yellow / brown bus 7 days a week (plus evenings) are trialing a new town fare in Frome.


You will be able to travel anywhere within the town boundary (Oldford to Sainburys Frome) for just £1.50 adult single. There are discounted fares for students and for 16-21 year olds paying only £1.10 and under 16's will have to pay only 80p.
